Bridgestone World Solar Challenge
Enabling technology and passion to take solar power into pole position
The Bridgestone World Solar Challenge is the world’s premier solar car event where young engineers use only the power of the sun to design, engineer and build the most innovative, efficient and durable solar-powered vehicle. Spanning 3,000 kilometres over five days across the harsh Australian outback, the BWSC brings the world's foremost challenge of sustainable transport to life.
Bridgestone’s support of the World Solar Challenge (WSC) since 2013 – and partnership extension for another 10 years – is testimony to our mission of contributing to society and the communities we operate in through investing in today’s youth, and, with new innovative solutions that are environmentally-friendly to support the conservation of limited resources on our planet.
In championing alternative sources for future mobility – with competition to stir emotion and stoke excitement – we want to kindle hope and deliver joy among participants, enthusiasts and fans.
Beyond the event itself, our passion is leveraged to heighten interest and engagement with renewable energy as a current topic for the future of mobility. The very nature of the BWSC – from engineering, data crunching, the ecology, and geography, to weather conditions – is a self-contained lesson in technological innovation in mobility.
